
On February 8th, Global Schools Program Manager, Amanda Abrom participated as the Cheif Guest for a webinar hosted by Alphonsa Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Kanyakumari District, India. The webinar was titled “Relevance of SDG Education in School Set-up and the Contribution of UN agencies to ensure SDGs”. The school is a member of the Global Schools Program network.

During the event, Amanda welcomed the school to the network and congratulated Global Schools Advocate, Florence V, for her work coordinating Education for Sustainable Development Projects. These projects included: an orientation on ESD for school leadership, an ESD workshop for teachers, an official ceremony to implement the Global Schools Program with 200+ attendees, an awareness class on drug addiction (SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being), participation in the UNEP Youth Innovation Challenge, and the formation of an SDG Club. The webinar featured a prayer song, a visual presentation by the school, and a Key Note Address. The Key Note Speaker was Mr. Pankaj Rathore, Global Schools Advocate and Headmaster of Seth Anadaram Jaipuria School, Lucknow, India. Mr. Rathore discussed the significance of empathy and design thinking when creating actionable solutions for sustainable development. He gave students specific steps for engaging with local communities and shared key resources in his inspiring and interactive presentation.
