Nene Onyedi Ibezim
Project Officer, Advocacy
Nene Ibezim is a Project officer (Advocacy) of Global Schools, an initiative of the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network. She has ten years of experience in the education and social development space. She is the founder of the Leading Kids Program, a leadership development training program designed to empower children in underserved public primary schools to achieve their full leadership potential. Previously, Nene worked as a Program Coordinator at Slum2School Africa, a volunteer-driven development organization where she developed learning programs that include multiple modalities; self-paced e-learning, and in-person learning engagements.
Her drive and passion for education propelled her to participate in several advocacy programs focused on facilitating access to quality education for all children. In 2018, she joined Teach For Nigeria as a Fellow where she taught primary school learners in a small underserved village. Nene is a Teach For All Network Connector fostering connectivity between the participants and alumni of the Teach For All Global Network. She is also a 2019 Teach For All Global Girls' Education alumna. In 2021, she was selected as one of 16 teachers worldwide as an ‘Inclusive Education Fellow’ by Teach For All and Oak Foundation. She was awarded a place in the Top 100 teachers globally in the International Teachers’ Olympiad 2022 by Surasaa. Nene works as a leadership development officer with Teach For Nigeria where she leads Fellows to achieve excellent academic and non-academic student outcomes in schools in low-income communities. She also supports them in identifying and proffering solutions to educational-related problems with relevant interventions. Nene supports Teach For Nigeria’s training unit in planning and executing pedagogical and leadership training for over 600 Fellows. She spends her time volunteering to empower underserved children in slums and remote communities with quality education, entrepreneurial skills, and psychosocial support to enable them to realize their full potential. She enjoys reading and believes that we all can make a difference in the world if we all choose to get involved.
