Background:
Global Schools is excited to announce the showcase of the Schools for Goal 7 initiative at the 2026 ECOSOC Partnership Forum. The ECOSOC Partnership forum is taking place on January 27th at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.
This year's Forum, themed "Transformative, equitable, innovative, and coordinated actions for the 2030 Agenda and its SDGs for a sustainable future for all," aims to unite governments, UN agencies, international organizations, educators, and civil society to highlight impactful partnerships that drive progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
This year, there will be a particular focus on SDG 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy), which will be reviewed at the 2026 High-Level Political Forum (HLPF) in July. Therefore, Global Schools will organize a virtual side event on January 27th at 9am ET, to showcase the role of education in advancing SDG 7. The event underscores international efforts to promote affordable, sustainable energy through innovative learning methods in the Schools for Goal 7 program.
About the Schools for Goal 7 Program:
Schools for Goal 7 is a program launched in collaboration with Siemens Energy that empowers teachers and students with the knowledge and skills needed to address energy challenges through engaging STEAM-based learning and gamified experiences, fostering a sense of purpose and opportunity. Through hands-on activities, collaborative projects, and digital tools, students not only learn about clean energy but also become active participants in building more resilient, inclusive, and sustainable communities.

It's great to see Schools for Goal 7 showcasing their work at the UN forum, education and sustainability go hand in hand. When planning eco-friendly school buildings, tools like a roofing calculator can help designers estimate materials quickly and keep projects on track.

The upcoming Schools for Goal 7 side event at the UN ECOSOC Partnership Forum 2026 is a strong example of how education can drive sustainable energy goals. By bringing schools into the conversation, the initiative highlights the role of young people and educators in shaping awareness and action around clean energy. It’s a positive step toward building global partnerships that connect policy with grassroots engagement. Much like the balance in Slope game, progress here depends on steady focus—aligning ambition with practical steps to ensure long‑term impact.
