GSP Celebrates World Teachers’ Day 2025

Every year on October 5th, the world comes together to recognize and celebrate the important role of teachers in shaping the minds, values, and futures of generations to come.
World Teachers’ Day is a celebration and a reminder of the meaningful contribution educators have in building just, inclusive, and sustainable societies.
This year’s theme, “Recasting Teaching as a Collaborative Profession,” showcases the importance of cooperation among educators, schools, communities, and education partners, to strengthen the education systems and ensure they are adaptable, inclusive, and future focused.
At the Global Schools Program (GSP), collaboration is central to our mission. We believe that no teacher should have to walk the journey of educating for a sustainable future alone. As Nelson Mandela once said, “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.”
Guided by this vision, GSP creates tools, resources, and professional development programs that empower educators to integrate the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) into classrooms across the globe. Some of these essential tools and resources are made possible through collaborations and partnerships from different likeminded organisations around the world.
Our mission is to ensure that every primary and secondary school student, through the help of a teacher, is equipped with knowledge, values and skills needed to meet the most pressing challenges of our time, such as addressing climate change, promoting peace and equality, and building more sustainable and inclusive communities.

This World Teachers’ Day, GSP honours the thousands of educators in the Global Schools community, who are changing classrooms into spaces of creativity, inclusion, collaboration, and problem solving. These educators have proved to the world that teaching is about delivering knowledge and creating solutions to real world problems, and inspiring students to become active, informed, and responsible global citizens.
